ICC-ES AC60

Full Name

ICC-ES AC60 – Acceptance Criteria for Anchors in Unreinforced Masonry Elements

Scope

ICC-ES AC60 focuses on the evaluation of adhesive anchors in unreinforced masonry elements. These are anchors that are bonded to the masonry substrate using adhesives rather than mechanical expansion or friction. The scope of AC60 includes:
  • Adhesive anchors: it specifically addresses adhesive anchors, not mechanical anchors.
  • Unreinforced masonry: it applies to masonry elements that do not contain steel reinforcement, such as brick or concrete block walls.
  • Evaluation guidelines: it provides guidelines for evaluating the performance of adhesive anchors in unreinforced masonry, including testing requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Strength and safety: it aims to ensure that adhesive anchors used in unreinforced masonry provide adequate strength and safety under various loading conditions.
It’s important to note that AC60 is limited to adhesive anchors and does not cover mechanical anchors. Other acceptance criteria, such as AC01 and AC58, address mechanical and adhesive anchors in masonry, respectively.
