ICC-ES AC308

Full Name

ICC-ES AC308 – Acceptance Criteria for Post-installed Adhesive Anchors in Concrete Elements

Scope

ICC-ES AC308 establishes the acceptance criteria for post-installed adhesive anchors and reinforcing bars in concrete elements. These criteria are used for evaluating these products to be recognized in an ICC-ES evaluation report under the International Building Code (IBC) and the International Residential Code (IRC).

The scope of AC308 includes:

  • Materials: it specifies the acceptable types of adhesive anchors, torque-controlled adhesive anchors, and post-installed reinforcing bars, along with the required properties of the adhesive materials.
  • Design and installation: it outlines the design and installation requirements for these products, including the embedment depth, spacing, edge distance, and load directions.
  • Performance: it defines the performance criteria that adhesive anchors and post-installed reinforcing bars must meet, such as tensile strength, shear strength, and resistance to static, dynamic, and seismic loads.
  • Testing: it details the testing procedures and protocols for evaluating the performance of these products, including static, dynamic, and seismic load tests, as well as tests for bond strength and creep behavior.

By providing these acceptance criteria, AC308 ensures that post-installed adhesive anchors and reinforcing bars used in concrete construction are safe, reliable, and compliant with building codes. It gives engineers, contractors, and building officials confidence in the performance of these products.
