ICC-ES AC178
Full Name
ICC-ES AC178 – Acceptance Criteria for Inspection and Verification of Concrete and Reinforced and Unreinforced Masonry Strengthening Using Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) and Steel-Reinforced Polymer (SRP) Composite Systems
Scope
ICC-ES AC178 provides guidelines for the inspection and verification of concrete and masonry strengthening using Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) and Steel-Reinforced Polymer (SRP) composite systems. It covers both prefabricated and field-applied systems used to strengthen reinforced and unreinforced masonry.
The scope of AC178 includes:
- Inspection: procedures for inspecting the installation process to ensure compliance with the manufacturer’s instructions and project specifications.
- Verification: methods for verifying the quality of the installed FRP or SRP system, including visual inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), and destructive testing.
- Documentation: requirements for documenting the inspection and verification process, including reports and test results.
