ICC-ES AC14

Full Name

ICC-ES AC14 – Acceptance Criteria for Prefabricated Wood I-joists

Scope

ICC-ES AC14 establishes minimum requirements for the evaluation of prefabricated wood I-joists in evaluation reports under the International Building Code (IBC) and the International Residential Code (IRC).

The scope of ICC-ES AC14 includes:

  • Structural performance: criteria for evaluating the strength, stiffness, and load-carrying capacity of prefabricated wood I-joists.
  • Fire resistance: requirements for assessing the fire-resistant properties of I-joists.
  • Diaphragm testing: test methods for evaluating the diaphragm performance of I-joists in floor and roof systems.
  • Quality control: criteria for ensuring the consistent quality of I-joist production.
  • Installation: requirements for the proper installation of I-joists.

By meeting the requirements of ICC-ES AC14, manufacturers can obtain an evaluation report from ICC-ES, which demonstrates that their prefabricated wood I-joists comply with the building codes and are suitable for use in construction projects.
