ASTM C1754
Full Name
ASTM C1754 – Standard Test Method for Density and Void Content of Hardened Pervious Concrete
Scope
ASTM C1754 provides a standardized procedure for determining the density and void content of hardened pervious concrete specimens. This test method is applicable to pervious concrete mixtures containing coarse aggregate with a nominal maximum size of 25 mm [1 in.] or smaller. It applies to either core specimens or molded cylinders.
Key aspects of the scope include:
- Density determination: the standard outlines the procedure for measuring the density of hardened pervious concrete, which is the mass per unit volume of the material.
- Void content determination: it also provides the methodology for calculating the void content of hardened pervious concrete, which is the percentage of voids (empty spaces) in the material.
- Specimen types: the test method can be applied to both core specimens extracted from existing pervious concrete structures and molded cylinders prepared in the laboratory.
It is important to note that density and void content determined by other test methods may yield different results compared to ASTM C1754, and these results might not be directly comparable.
