ASTM C1670

Full Name

ASTM C1670 – Standard Specification for Adhered Manufactured Stone Masonry Veneer Units

Scope

ASTM C1670 covers the minimum product requirements for adhered manufactured stone masonry veneer units. These units are non-load bearing and are applied as an adhered veneer to exterior and interior walls and structures suitable to receive them.

The scope of ASTM C1670 includes:

  • Material requirements: specifies the use of cementitious materials, aggregates, pigments, and admixtures in the production of adhered manufactured stone masonry veneer units.
  • Physical requirements: establishes minimum requirements for compressive strength, absorption, and freeze-thaw durability of the units.
  • Dimensional requirements: defines tolerances for dimensional variations in the units, including length, width, thickness, and variation in face dimensions within a unit profile.
  • Finish and appearance: addresses requirements for the surface finish and appearance of the units, including color and texture consistency.
  • Sampling and testing: outlines procedures for sampling and testing to verify compliance with the specified requirements.
  • Packaging and marking: specifies requirements for packaging and marking of the units for identification and handling.

It is important to note that ASTM C1670 focuses on the properties of the manufactured stone veneer units themselves and does not cover aspects such as installation methods or structural requirements of the wall assembly.
